THE PROJECT
ARTISAN GOLD MINERS ACROSS EAST AFRICA ARE BEING POSITIVELY IMPACTED
THE PROJECT
PRIMARY MISSION STATEMENT:
Creating a self-sustaining duplicate Mercury Free Gold Extraction System and Safety Education and Training for the A.S.G.M.(Artisanal Small Scale Gold Mining) Community.

We have been working full time in Kenya since 2018 under Farmers of Gold, and have made tremendous progress in implementing our efforts. R
We currently have a Shaker-Table, Jaw Crusher, 3-phase diesel generators, smelter, mercury retorts, modern sluices, in helping the miners on mercury free processing of gold.

Several 2025 GOALS include the following... (many already accomplished)
1. Create a working partnership between our private NGO Farmers
of Gold, the UNDP and the Kenyan Ministry of Mining.
2. Create a safety training video course with several videos including safety gear, safety techniques, safety hazards in artisanal gold mining practices,
the use of mercury, silica from dust, hearing protection, and safe mine construction. Each video being no more than 5 minutes in length.
3. Create a short and comprehensive safety quiz pertaining to the training videos. Issue a certificate of completion upon passing the safety quiz. This certificate would also allow subsidised purchases of safety gear that will be made available thru the various mining committees
4. Franchise our partner safety equipment store MaraTec which currently purchases and rental of safety gear matching quality approved
by the Kenyan Government work place safety standards.
5. Formalise all artisanal gold miners into legal cooperatives requiring miners to be stringent in the use of safety gear and use of toxic materials.
6. Provide a registration mechanism in order to further formalise artisanal mining to a legal and regulated sector.
7. Removing mercury all together from the process, including cleanup of the environment.
THE HARD TRUTH
MOST
HAVE ALMOST NO SAFETY GEAR AT ALL
39.9%
ARE YOUNG WOMEN
DAILY AVERAGE WAGE IS AROUND $4
Safety is a big problem, requiring a tremendous effort on many fronts. We have been able to supply almost all of Lolgorians Artisan Gold miners with access through MaraTecs Safety Supply Store in Lolgorian Kenya. MaraTec currently provides miner registration, PPM equipment including dust masks, helmets, ear plugs, gloves, and gumboots. This equipment wears out quickly and needs to be replaced. We are looking to organise a subsidised safety gear program where miners can pay a fraction of the cost for this gear as the average wage per day is around $3. If you are interested, let us know.
